Ann Coulter Revises History
In a recent opinion piece, Ann Coulter rails against Republican senatorial candidates Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, “because these two idiots decided to come out against abortion in the case of rape and incest.”
Before offering her revisionist history, Ms. Coulter should have given us a little more time to forget what actually happened. She needs to blame someone for Romney’s defeat and pro-lifers are convenient scapegoats.
On separate occasions, media representatives asked each candidate his position on abortion in the case of rape. This is a standard trap question. Unlike Coulter, both Akin and Mourdock stood firm in supporting human rights and the humanity of pre-born humans regardless of the circumstances surrounding their creation. Regretfully, they stepped in the trap by appearing insensitive to rape victims. The Left took full advantage. Ann Coulter too wants to take advantage of their missteps to push her own agenda.
Contrary to Coulter, opposing abortion in the case of rape was not the problem. The problem was an inarticulate statement of the position. If Akin and Mourdock had answered the question with more care, there would have been no controversy.
