Responding to the “In The Case Of Rape” Trap

in

Abortion advocates and the pro-abortion media want to make pro-lifers (and especially pro-life politicians) appear insensitive to rape victims.  The most important thing pro-lifers should do to avoid falling into this trap is to – at all times – show proper heart-felt sympathy for rape victims.  This isn’t difficult to do because rape is such a horrible crime.

Q: What about abortion in the case of rape?

A: Rape is a horrible crime committed against an innocent woman.  No woman should ever undergo such a degrading vile act.  Likewise, abortion is a horrible crime committed against an innocent unborn human being.  No innocent child should undergo the degrading vile act of abortion.

Q: So, you oppose abortion when the pregnancy was due to rape?

A: The dehumanizing crime of rape does not justify the dehumanizing crime of abortion.

Q: Are you comparing abortion to rape?

A: Rape and abortion are obviously not the same thing but in both cases, an innocent human being is violently victimized. The answer to violence against one innocent person isn’t violently victimizing another.

In the above responses, you'll notice that rape is referred to as:

A horrible crime
A degrading vile act
The dehumanizing crime
Violent

Each of these descriptions also applies to abortion.  We need people to see that rape and abortion are wrong for the same reason.
